Overview

The Certificate II in Agriculture is one of the courses in 51Թ϶Ƶs RTO scope of registration.

VET in schools multiplies opportunities for students. They enable students to complete a nationally recognised vocational qualification as well as contribute towards their VCE Certificate. Classroom learning is combined with structured hands-on training and practice in industry. The aims of the program are to provide students with the knowledge and skills to achieve competencies that will enhance their employment prospects in the agricultural industry and to enable students to gain a recognised credential and make a more informed choice regarding further education and career paths.

Special Requirements

Students are required to wear appropriate clothes and footwear for working with animals in a farm environment.

Structured Workplace Learning (SWL)

Structured Workplace Learning is an important part of any VET in schools’ program and provides:

  • Enhancement of skills
  • Practical application of industry knowledge
  • Increased employment opportunities

We strongly recommend students undertake 40 hours of structured workplace learning. This program is delivered over two years and will contribute to their knowledge of the industry and understanding of the unit of competency, “Work effectively in industry”, and provides the opportunity to demonstrate competencies acquired off the job.

Contribution to the VCE

On completion of the program students are eligible for four credits towards their VCE certificate, two at units 1 and 2 level. and a 3 and 4 sequence. Students who successfully complete the two years of the course will be eligible for a 10% increment towards their ATAR calculated using 10% of the lowest study score of the primary four.
